Founded in 2005, Jaybird is a company that specializes in headphones for sports.  For a relatively new company on the personal audio scene, they’re already making waves in the industry thanks to their quality products and sleek design.  They’ve also recently partnered with the USA Triathlon team.  This means they are able to work first hand with athletes to get first hand input on the gear they produce.

What could be better than Bluetooth earbuds?  How about Noise Cancelling Bluetooth earbuds?  That’s right, it’s now possible to find a headset that combines the freedom of wire-free listening with the acoustic solitude of noise cancellation.

What is Noise Cancellation?

Noise Cancellation is a a technology which actively cancels ambient noise occurring outside your headphones.  This is accomplished using a microphone located in the earphone that listens to the outside noise, creates an opposite waveform signal, and plays it back through the earbuds.  This effectively cancels out the ambient noise heard by the listener and leaves only the sound that is meant to be heard through the earbuds, like music from your iPod.

This technology is ideal for places where the ambient noise is quite loud, such as on public transportation, airplanes, or anyplace where there are large numbers of people around you.  Noise cancelling earbuds enable you to listen to music without needing to raise the volume to uncomfortable levels.  This can save you from causing irreversible damage to your ear drums, which can be a problem when listening to music too loudly on headphones.
